My name is Morgan Nystrom. I am a student and an artist. I don't know if you can call someone who likes art and tries her best to create art an artist, but I'd like to think that I am. I go to Florida State University and am double majoring in Creative Writing and Psychology. I see both my writing and visual art as part of my art practice and I'm trying to challenge myself to further develop these skills by creating art as often as I can. I love that some of the classes I get to take allow me the versatility to create art for some projects, allowing me to really enjoy and create a thought provoking work.
This project is about my exploration and understanding of gender. I have included a written analysis of my process with pictures under the "Process" tab and the actual collection is under the "Gender Expression" tab. You can look at whichever you want to first. Reading my process may give you a lot more insight into my collection or looking at my collection first will allow you to create your own impressions and opinions on what I'm trying to say. Whichever suits your fancy is okay with me.The collection "Gender Expression" includes one video and 12 photographs. Lastly, I want to encourage you to reflect on yourself and your own experiences in society as you read and look at my work. Enjoy!
